When I left home at the age of 20, I got my first job as an artist illustrator designer. I first purchased a stereo, records, bought a guitar and started writing songs. The first songs related to following your dreams, do what you love and do it now. Other songs followed what I had to leave behind. The transience of life, The seeker looking for truth, purpose and the meaning of life passages. Songs about duality, reality that’s true.
The journey continues with feminism and the peace movement, learning from indigenous elders of this land and others. Songs of peace, honouring all our relations, healing from loss, child abuse, suicide, hope, celebrating our differences, songs that empower, uplifting the spirit. The songs have been shared in many circles, celebrations, confest, peace rallies, around camp fires and healing centres. 8 years ago songs of remembering who we are, awakening and healing, our connections to the earth, we are all related, We are all One. Walk gently on the earth with love, respect, compassion and unity and I am still singing my songs today.
‘We are all One’
The year 1986 was international year of peace, during that time I travelled for several months with the peace train. The goal was to link up different peace movements and activists across the country. When I returned home I joined the peace choir. The choir with other musicians and songwriters were asked to record peace songs to be part of a peace package for Victorian School children. After the choirs first recording, a request was made for original songs to be recorded. Something moved in me. Later that evening I sat in a silent candle lit room, focused intent and requested a song for the children, no thoughts, the words just flowed as did the music. A magical moment. We are all One was birthed.
